2023 Annual Meeting

February 28 to March 2

Join us for PowerAmerica’s 2023 Annual Meeting at NC State University, on Centennial Campus, in Raleigh, NC.

The two-and-a-half-day gathering of leaders and experts in silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) technology will offer networking sessions, keynote remarks, industry perspectives, student poster sessions and PowerAmerica project updates. Engineering and business development professionals are especially encouraged to attend.

There is no cost to attend for PowerAmerica member employees and students. However, please register with your company email (i.e., not @gmail, @ieee, @yahoo, etc.). If you are unsure whether your organization is a PowerAmerica member, please email poweramerica@ncsu.edu.

Non-members can request an invitation by contacting Jim_LeMunyon@ncsu.edu. All requests from non-members will be considered on the basis of whether the requesting person is affiliated with an organization that is qualified for PowerAmerica membership.

For those who cannot attend in person, there will be a one-way broadcast of presentations via internet. Networking breaks and group discussions will not be broadcast.

2023 Keynote Presentations

“Harnessing the Power of Compound Semiconductors” – Philip Chesley, Qorvo

Philip Chesley, Senior Vice-President & President of High Performance Analog, Qorvo

Philip Chesley joined Qorvo in 2021 as president of Infrastructure & Defense Products and is now senior vice-president & president of High Performance Analog.  Mr. Chesley most recently served as vice president and general manager of the Industrial and Communications Business Unit at Renesas. Prior to that, Mr. Chesley was senior vice-president and general manager of the Automotive, Aerospace and Analog Product Group at Intersil, which was acquired by Renesas in 2017. He joined Intersil in 2004 and served in several executive leadership roles. Prior to that, he was a founder and a director at Primarion, a pioneer in software-programmable digital multiphase power architectures, which was purchased by Infineon. Mr. Chesley earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University.

“Electrification in Aviation – Trends, Challenges and Opportunities” – Manish Dalal, GE Aviation

Manish Dalal, Vice President of Advanced Technology, GE Aviation
Manish is Vice President of Advanced Technology for GE Aviation Electrical Power business in the US and UK. In this role, Manish leads the advanced technology development, chief engineers’ office, business growth pursuits, technology and product roadmap strategy, and systems integration capability. Manish has over 30 years of experience in aerospace electrical power domain and expertise in areas of power electronics, controls, electric machine, power systems architecture, hybrid electric systems and architectures. Manish has a master’s degree in electrical engineering and MBA in Marketing.
