Request for Proposals (RFP) 2025-2026
The Full Proposal Submission period is now open.
Please find below the “PowerAmerica 2.0” Request for Proposals (RFP) on projects focused on further accelerating the commercialization of wide-bandgap materials — silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) — into semiconductor chips and power electronics.
We anticipate the value of the 29 projects to be funded under “PowerAmerica 2.0” will total roughly $26 million (inclusive of cost-match), broken into the following categories:
- $9 million in Industry Projects (plus $9M in cost-match);
- $3.2 million in University and EWD Projects (plus $3.2M in cost-match); and
- $900,000 in Member Initiated Projects (plus $450K in cost-match).
Concept Papers decisions were sent on Jan. 15, 2026. Full Proposals will only be accepted from applicants who received an “Encourage” recommendation. Please use the Infoready link within the RFP itself to view required documents and submission guidelines.
Questions should be directed to poweramerica@ncsu.edu.
Concept Paper Evaluation
After reviewing Concept Papers, PowerAmerica will either “Encourage” or “Discourage” applicants to submit a full proposal. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any information to applicants whose Concept Papers receive a “Discourage” recommendation.
